It’s not just sweating over the stuffing and tearing your hair out over the turkey, it’s the hub of your home for you and whoever you share the special day with, so let’s look at how we can make it so!

Decorate Your Windows

Window spaces can be difficult to spruce up but when you find the right pieces it offers such a wonderful glow without being intrusive into your cooking space. Look for small hanging ornaments and greenery to add a natural warmth to the frame.

Use Festive Towels

Use festive tea towels to add that subtle accent around the room. They may end up covered in gravy on Christmas Day or used to mop up a spilled drink on Boxing Day, but they really make a simple statement. Even more so if you can match the colours to some festive mugs and plates you have at this time of year.

Decorate Your Chairs

Arguably the most important asset of the kitchen and dining area around Christmas time that isn’t a cooking appliance, so don’t overlook them. Spruce them up with some pine or a festive bow to add that extra flourish to the room that will warm everyone’s spirits. If you’re the type to have place names for a big family too, you could try incorporating those into the chair decorations themselves, if not, then a simple ribbon will be just as festivally effective!

Impress Children With Gingerbread Scenery

There isn’t a kid (or adult) who doesn’t love a gingerbread display, so make sure you put yours out for all to see and if you’ve got the time, get them involved in construction with you! They make for a truly wholesome decoration, especially when you serve any sweet treats around them.

Add A Small Christmas Tree

The ultimate festive statement is of course, the Christmas tree. Why not add a little one where ever you have space and truly finish the room off in style? You can get plenty of mini decorations and gifts for smaller trees nowadays so decorate it just as you would with some wire fairy lights and you’ll have the perfect mini tree!
